Unlike unencrypted e-mail which is equivalent to sending a postcard through the Internet, E-Courier encrypts your messages and files when it is transmitted over the Internet and when it is stored on their servers. Encryption prevents your sensitive information from being compromised.  The lack of encryption was the primary reason that companies such as Equifax, Simplii, BMO, and Target recently suffered serious data breaches.

Your free e-Courier guest account is analogous to having your own safety deposit box which requires a key to open it. The key is your password. The password protects unauthorized access to your deposit box. If a password is not required, it is very easy for a hacker who has access to your e-mail to masquerade that they are you, by using your e-mail address to send or pick up sensitive information from an unsuspecting target, with the goal to commit virtual identity theft. All it takes is a hacker to get access to your SIN number, address, birthdate or credit card number for this to happen. Virtual identity theft is on the rise and can have serious consequences for you.  Therefore, we recommend the use of a password. If you forget your password, I or e-Courier support personnel can reset it.

If you do not already have an e-Courier account, you will be notified by e-mail from us that we have created your free account. The subject line will contain the words: “New Secure E-Package:” it will contain very simple instructions and a link to activate your account. Your account ID is your e-mail address. All e-Courier email notifications are textbase to ensure that our links are not hidden or disguised by graphics.

To save time when you access your e-Courier account I strongly recommend that you bookmark your e-Courier account. Clicking your bookmark will take you to the e-Courier login page and prefill your e-mail address. To bookmark your account, log into your e-Courier account, at the bottom of every web page you will see the following words: For easier future logins, bookmark this link: e-Courier: LOGIN.
